true colors

Sometimes
it is the fact that we struggle
with difficult decisions and choices
that proves that we do love
the people near and dear to us.

When life seems easy
it is sometimes merely an indication
that we are not paying attention
or even that we don't really care.

While striving for simplicity
may be a good idea,
it shouldn't be confused
with making things easy
for ourselves
and those around us.

Faith is also an act of love
when we trust others
to understand
why we do what we do.

Being considerate
is not the same as
sheltering someone.

Allowing ourselves
and each other
to love freely
and to be loved
is not easy.

But it is essential
to the human condition
because we cannot control
how we feel
and whether or not
we acknowledge it
we wouldn't want to.

These thoughts
are worth remembering
in both
our dealings with others
and with ourselves.
